SAME Charleston Post 2021 Scholarships

The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) is a professional engineering association that was established to unite architects, engineers and contractors in the civil and military realms to further knowledge within the industry and awareness of national defense.  The SAME Charleston Post is seeking candidates for the 2021/2022 Scholarship Program with several scholarships of at least $1,000 each. 

Deadline for applications is April 5, 2021 and will be presented early June 2021. 

Eligible persons must (1) be a graduating high school senior or undergraduate college student (2) be a resident of Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester County, or be a member, spouse, or child of a member of the Charleston Post or member of the Citadel Student Chapter of SAME (3) have a G.P.A. of 3.0 (4.0 scale) or greater for high school and college (4) be accepted or confirmed enrollment in an accredited U.S. college/university or Trident Technical College 2+2 transfer program (honoring USAF Colonel Richard Kent’s many contributions to the SAME scholarship program and TTC’s 2+2 program) studying undergraduate engineering, architecture, science, math, or a related field of study in 2020/2021.

SAME Charleston Post 2021 Scholarship Application

Distinguished Young Women of Dorchester County Scholarship Program



I am seeking participants for the Dorchester County's DYW Scholarship Program that will be held in April of this coming year.  To participate, the Junior (11th grade) girls must sign-up on-line at the website www.DistinguishedYW.org before 2/7/21. The Kick-Off meeting for the girls and their parent or guardian will be held at Gaillard Insurance Agency om St. George {208 Cedar St.} on January 24th and the last day for signing up is February 7th.  


The flyer explains some of the scholarship programs highlights and how to sign up.  The girls will compete in the following 5 phases: Interview, Scholastics, Fitness, Talent and Self Expression.  The Dorchester County Scholarship Program provides $8,000 in scholarships annually.    Former winners were Ava Butler of Summerville High School and Emma Knight of Palmetto Scholars Academy.  The participants are awarded scholarships and the overall winner will go on to compete in the South Carolina DYW  program in July of 2021.
